Bear With Us.

As you might have noticed, we have taken a bit of a hiatus.  Relocating, home remodeling, a new job, and one husband in law school have meant that our Nickel Lane venture has had to temporarily take a back seat.  Rest assured that we are re-grouping and new products are on their way.  Bear with us for just bit longer and you will not be disappointed.
See you soon!

Gnomes vs. Snowmen!

Anna Hrachovec launched Mochimochi Land in 2007  "as a place where knitted toys and people can live together in a spirit of tolerance."
"Gnomes vs. Snowmen" is her newest exhibition on display until November 18th at Gallery Hanahou in NYC.
The exhibition is a miniature epic battle scene inspired by the 11th century Bayeux Tapestry depicting the Norman conquest of England. It consists of more than 40 knitted panels and is quite the crafty triumph!
Snowballs fuel this battle between gnomes and snowmen for control over carrot supplies, herds of cuddly bunnies, candy canes, and robots.   Please follow this link to see the battle in it's entirety.  It does not disappoint!

Fall Bliss

My fall loving husband kindly installed our handmade, by said husband, porch bed on our new back porch. He even outfitted it with pillows and a cozy blanket. It is now officially nap ready and you know you're jealous.

Pee Wee Herman Flashback

Our new plaid chairs arrived last week. I realized, as I have been living with the new chairs for a few days now, that maybe their resemblance to Chairy from Pee Wee Herman is why I was strangely drawn to them. They don't share a rounded back or the light blue fabric, but the rolled arms, mouth, and button tufted eyes are similar. I do believe I have two updated "Chairy" chairs now living at my house.

Felt Knot Chair

Made is a Canadian design product retailer. They carry handmade works and small production pieces by industrial designers, craftsmen, architects, designers and artists. They have a unique array of furniture, lighting, ceramic, glass, textile, jewelry and home accessories that are original and thoughtful designs with an emphasis on quality and usability.

This is an image of a huge knot made from felt strips that serves as an inventive chair. It is designed by artist, Yvonne Ip for Made.
Here it is again with a toddler to give you an idea of the scale.
She also makes ottomans that are pretty fun.
We are not sure how comfortable the felt chairs and ottomans would actually be, but we love the playfulness of these unique products.

Fab Lab House!

Ok, so this may be a little ambitious even for us, but isn't this amazing! If architects can create an entire house with the Fab Lab just imagine what cool home products Nickel Lane is going to create there. We can't wait for our first class at the end of this month!
